I’m sorry London, but let’s pretend that never happened.

Our Romantic, dreamy days of France came to a sudden end when we entered London. The interrogation we endured before even entering the country got us off to a rough start, and the series of events to follow during our stay in London made this leg of our trip my least favorite so far.

The city itself was stunningly sophisticated and there was much to be explored, but it turns out that many places are closed between Christmas and New Years – so we were disappointed when most of our plans fell short due to this. We walked this city a lot and found a few good food joints, but the food overall was underwhelming. The markets and restaurants we were looking forward to for fish & chips, amongst other good street food, were closed.

We saw some of the major sites like Big Ben, Westminster and the Tower Bridge. We also found some other cool places not so well-known that we enjoyed as well, including an old pub and an artists club that we really loved. There were also some fascinating museums that we had the chance to see.

I’d be lying if I said we weren’t ready to get out of London and continue-on to Ireland. In all of my life, I’ve never missed a flight, but somehow we cluelessly arrived at the airport at the time our plane was leaving. We missed it and had to wait for the next.

When we finally set our feet on Irish land, Jon and I couldn’t help but laugh about the obstacle course we had just encountered.  Onward and upward, we just knew that Ireland had so much to offer. 🍀
