A Quick Stop in Brussels

We definitely could have spent more time in this city, by the time we took the train –>plane–>bus–>cab and arrived at Yvonne and Twola’s home, we had less than 24 hours before heading on to the next destination.

Jet lagged and in need of some serious rest, we layed down for a 20-minute power nap. 3.5 hours later, we found ourselves with even less time to explore this wonderful city! At 5 p.m., we set out to wander the streets and find the Grand Place. The square was majestic with holiday decor and beautiful lighting.

Nearby, we stumbled upon Delirium Cafe, a brew house owned and operated by our favorite Belgian Brewers, Huyghe.

We’ve both loved this beer for years now and were so excited to find this little gem amongst the cobblestone streets of Brussels! We ordered hastily and without caution – blissfully inconsiderate of metric conversions. When a Boot of Delirium Tremens was set in-front of us, alongside a 32-oz equivalent of the Xmas batch, we immediately realized that our hearts and admiration for the beer were bigger than our stomachs.

Until then, Das Boot was something we had only heard about and seen in movies. After 5 minutes of heavily art-directed photos, snaps and pure awe, we finally decided it was time to dive in. It took determination and persistence, but Jonathan managed to finish it in less than 20 minutes!

After, we went on the search for mussels and frites! I’d been waiting to try this while in Brussels, and the restaurant we found did not disappoint.  Stuffed with beer and good food, we found our way home to get some rest before our train ride to Paris ❤
